Dear Younger Fred…early on, you'll only want the good seasons…
You'll want the spring and summer of life.
The growth.
The momentum.
The wins.
You'll hope to skip the winters altogether.
The setbacks.
The uncertainty.
The moments where nothing seems to move.
But that's not how life works.
Life doesn't ask you which seasons you prefer…
it gives you the ones you need.
As you get older — and as you sit across from clients at different stages of their lives — you'll start to see it clearly.
Some are in seasons of expansion…
others in seasons of contraction.
Some are building…
others are rebuilding.
And none of it is wrong.
Think about your own life, Fred.
School wasn't all roses and sunshine.
There were failures.
Losses.
Moments where you questioned your path.
Remember when you really wanted to enroll in grad school…
but your GPA didn't reflect who you had become?
So you went back.
You redid nine courses — not because you had to…
but because you cared now.
That season taught you something you'll carry forever:
As long as you have your health… you can rebuild.
You can start over.
You can finish something you once walked away from.
Every year gives you another chance —
not to erase the past…
but to respond to it differently.
That's the gift most people underestimate.
You'll realize that winter seasons don't mean you're failing…
they mean you're being prepared.
Stripped down.
Refocused.
Because growth doesn't just happen in the light.
It happens underground too.
So when life feels heavy… or slow… or uncertain…
don't fight the season.
Meet it.
Learn from it.
Move forward one step at a time.
And here's the question you should ask yourself today, Fred…
What are you going to do with your gift of health… today?
Because with that gift…
you can always begin again.
Baaaaam… that's it for today.
See you next Thursday.
Stay curious,
Fred
